The PARKOVYI Data Center Enhances Cloud Solutions Resilience and Security with CyberArk

CyberArk's Identity security platform strengthened the protection of cloud solutions of the PARKOVYI Data Center and increased the reliability of infrastructure services for customers. This case illustrates how the right choice of technologies helps companies provide reliable protection, create additional benefits for customers, and lay the foundation for further development.

BAKOTECH works through a partner network and does not make direct sales to customers.

  • Company profile

Branch: IT services and IT consulting Employees: 60+ employees
The PARKOVYI Data Center is one of Ukraine's largest and most technological data centers, designed and built by Schneider Electric. PARKOVYI DC is the only commercial data center in Ukraine that has been awarded the TIER III Certificate by the Uptime Institute, which is in line with the International TIA 942 Standard. This confirms that the data center covers all the key requirements for quality and security and also has the necessary compliance certificates for working with state institutions and commercial organizations of any scale.
Cooperation with the PARKOVYI DC opens access to the highest IT infrastructure maintenance technologies, allowing to optimize organizational and financial costs and to ensure stable operation of IT equipment in volatile times.

Data Center services include:

    Placement of server equipment
Cloud services in Ukraine or the EU
Migration of cloud infrastructure from Microsoft Azure
    Data backup and DraaS service
  • Challenges

Oleksandr, head of the IT infrastructure development department of the PARKOVYI Data Center, notes that the data center is a kind of "place of strength." Thanks to its A-class infrastructure, it offers secure and certified storage for IT infrastructure, government institutions and private businesses.
However, the larger the amount of data in the IT infrastructure, the riskier its maintenance becomes.
"Disabling a data center is every cybercriminal's dream," Oleksandr adds.

The data center team regularly faces network attacks that target both customers and the infrastructure itself. In 2024, the PARKOVYI DC was subjected to a targeted attack. The cyber incident became a catalyst for building an entire ecosystem of privileged access management — an element of the critical cyber defense frontier.

  • Choosing a solution

In order to strengthen their security, the PARKOVYI DC conducted a detailed analysis of solutions and chose the CyberArk platform. The data center got to know the vendor better thanks to the BAKOTECH distributor. The choice was based on CyberArk's reputation and the ability of its products to integrate with purpose-built infrastructure. In addition, the ability to scale the solution allows a gradual and logical expansion of the functionality in accordance with the needs of the data center.

The main implemented solutions were:

  • Privilege Access Manager — comprehensive protection of privileged identities. Its functionality includes monitoring and controlling all privileged sessions, protecting critical accounts from being compromised, and storing passwords in a secure vault.

  • Vendor Privileged Access Manager — an integrated SaaS solution that enables fast and secure privileged access for vendors, consultants, maintenance personnel and other authorized external 3rd parties. With Vendor PAM, organizations can implement Zero Trust-based just-in-time access, biometric MFA, and privileged credential and session management without the need for VPN clients, passwords, and agents. Vendor PAM helps defend against attacks targeting 3rd-party access while driving operational efficiencies and satisfying audit and compliance requirements.

  • Implementation

The integration of CyberArk into the infrastructure of the PARKOVYI Data Center was a serious challenge: the team had to adapt the solution to specific requirements and architecture. The main goal of adaptation is to ensure full fault tolerance of all infrastructure components, which will minimize the risks of downtime and guarantee uninterrupted operation even in emergencies. This goal was logical, taking into account such requirements as stability and continuity of work.

One of the challenges was the incorrect account configuration created during the initial stages of implementation. This delayed the project for several months. However, thanks to prompt and high-quality vendor support, all technical problems were resolved in time, which allowed the team to continue the integration of other components of the solution.

CyberArk's modular architecture has become a key advantage. It enabled the PARKOVYI Data Center team to gradually implement additional functionality while using the platform's available capabilities.

Oleksandr concluded: "Despite the difficulties, the result met our expectations. CyberArk has proven its effectiveness in real-world conditions.”

    Implementation results

The start of work with CyberArk allowed the PARKOVYI DC to achieve significant improvements, namely:

Ensure reliable protection of privileged accounts and implement recording of privileged sessions

Implement the principle of minimal privileges: from now on, each user or system has access only to the resources necessary to perform their tasks, which minimizes the risks of unauthorized access

Implement automation of password policies: automatic rotation, creation of complex passwords, and management of their validity period. This greatly increases the security of privileged accounts

"The CyberArk platform allowed not only to protect our infrastructure, but also to make customer services more secure. Now we are sure that privileged access is properly controlled," Oleksandr comments.

  • Plans for the future

In the future, the PARKOVYI Data Center plans to expand CyberArk's functionality, particularly by implementing solutions to protect business users and integrating CyberArk as part of customer services. These steps aim to strengthen the cyber security of data center infrastructure and services to meet today's challenges. The data center plans to increase the protection of internal processes and provide customers with access to the best security practices as part of their service.

Key benefits

Reliable and seamless protection of identities and secrets
    Transparent access control
    Seamless integration with existing infrastructure
The ability to scale to solve future problems
